How many times do I have to say "Cheese"?

This photo tells it all! Elianna gave me this cheese smile after she had already been asked to smile for about a zillion snapshots from numerous other relatives.

A Taste of Spring

I was grateful to get this picture with all four of my Grandchildren.

KinderConcert

For our first Grandma Day of 2008 we went to a concert for kids. It was put on by the Ann Arbor Symphony and the local library. They play classical music while guiding the children in movement. They focus on one particular instrument at each concert.

Today's was the flute. She showed them different flutes (alto, picollo and pan) and had the children guess which ones made high notes and which ones made lower notes. She also picked Elianna to blow the regular flute. She was one of only two children who were allowed to try it out. Then afterwards, she was the only one to play the piano. I think it was her VERY polite,"Mam, can I please play your piano?"

During one of the movements, they passed out large pieces of silky fabric. The children were to dance with their adult partner. Most silks were neon colors but we received a plain white one. That didn't even matter to Elianna. She really enjoyed the whole concert.

Purple People and More!

Elianna and I were doing this hide and seek activity.

Well, she was zooming through it!
She was finding the objects faster than I was!
I'm thinking I must have the brightest grandaughter ever!

Then we came to an item neither of us could find. Elianna told me,"It's over here somewhere." Sure enough it was!
I became suspicious. Then I asked her why she had thought it was over there. Her reply- "That's where it was when mommy and me did this!"
Obviously Angela had received one in the mail too.

Hey, I still have the grandaughter with the greatest memory!

Great-Grandma Christmas

We had one last hurrah of Christmas Celebration at Great-Grandma's house. Just the girls and their daddy went with us. (Mommy was sick)

The girls were very well behaved. Even waiting very patiently through the great lunch she had for us to eat. Finally present time, Elianna was very disappointed she had to wait for her daddy to put their tricycle together at home. She didn't understand that it was in pieces in the box. She wanted to ride it right away. Mind you there was over 5" of snow on the ground. (I know because I was sitting in it when I slipped and fell getting out of the truck.) I especially like the second picture where you can see the girls eyeballing each other's gifts.

Christmas at Our House!

Friday night we had our Christmas & gift exchange. It was planned for Saturday night. But Hubby & eldest Son decided on Friday that Friday was better. Good thing all my presents were already bought & wrapped. But I wasn't done with Elianna's outfit. I ended up sewing right up until the middle of our dinner. See the finished product in the photos & previous post. It was worth it.

We missed Melanie and her family and my parents but I think everyone had a good time. The girls did really well even with the late hour.

My highlight of the evening involved Elianna.

Understand, our family passes presents out one at a time. Everyone watches while that one is opened. Then we pass out the next present.

This year my eldest son would pick a present from under the tree. He would read who it was for and then give it to Elianna to deliver.

Well, my husband received several presents in a row that were all clothes wrapped without a box. When he had every one's attention, being funny, he would squish them, act like he was guessing what they were, and then shout out "Socks!"

Finally Chad picked a CD wrapped like a CD. (no disguising this one) He gave it to Elianna to deliver to Glenn.

She walked it over to her Papaw with her hand on her hip and held it out to him. (Using that cute tone she has; that sounds as if to say "silly adults don't you know anything?" Must I tell you everything?)

Before handing him his present, she says,

"Papaw - This is NOT socks!"

Of course we all start laughing. Flustered, she turns around and says, "Well they're not!"

All three of my grandaughters now have the custom Christmas casual outfits that I made this year.

A Child's View

I gave Elianna my camera to take pictures. Her choice of photos was quite interesting and gave me the idea for this blog.

Elianna's mom said it best when looking at her daughter's photos, "How would you like to walk around with your eye level such that you look at rears all day?" FYI: (For all those involved as models including myself)There are not any pictures of rear ends in this blog. They were all deleted. Especially after the comments about it being a good thing she had a wide angle lens for my rear photo. Thank You!
